How do Dormancy Enhancers Work?
While CIPC works on the surface of the potatoes to prevent peeps or buds from growing into sprouts. Classified as a bio-chemical, 1,4DMN replicates a compound that occurs naturally in fresh potatoes. It has a non-toxic action that restores or enhances the dormant state as it penetrates the potato’s skin. It does not kill emerging shoots, but prevents them from starting.
Improving Potato Quality
Just as important, 1,4DMN products help maintain potato quality. Dormant potatoes respire at a lower level, limiting the amount of water and carbon dioxide that is dissipated. This reduces shrink and susceptibility to pressure bruise.
